Martin Dimery is a man of many talents: Director of the Frome Festival, rock-and-roll legend (Sergeant Pepper’s Only Dart Board Band; The Unravelling Wilburys), Somerset County Councillor, and published author.
This year, Martin published his first novel The Ruling Classes - a darkly comic satire that compares the fortunes of a comprehensive school and its independent counterpart in the fictional town of Storton, as both battle for supremacy - and funds - in attempting to build a new theatre.
‘Write what you know’ is a common and valuable mantra in the world of novel-writing, and Martin brings his years of teaching in both the state and private sectors, his experience of small town politics, and his life in the arts to bear in his wryly observed piece of fiction.
